Frequently Asked Questions
Do the 20" L arms work with regular door frames?
The 20" L arms have the settings for standard wall width and standard overhead trim, plus they have a deeper setting for 5 ½" or 6 ½" walls and an additional setting for overhead trim up to 6" wide.
How much clearance do the doorway pull up bars require?
The UD6 is 41" wide which means that on a 30" doorway opening you would need an additional 5½" past the opening on both sides of the door opening. For a 36" doorway opening you would need an additional 2½" past the opening on both sides of the door opening. Above the overhead trim you will need 1½ clearance before your ceiling.
How does the cantilever of the Universal Door Mount bar (UD6 & UD5) hold me up?
In simple terms, your levered weight on the Universal Door Mount pull up bar is greater than your actual weight. This levered weight is transferred to a "holding force" against your doorstop and door frame casing, holding you secure.
Will the Universal Door Mount bar damage my woodwork?
No! We have designed a 6 1/2" long padded fulcrum that rests against your wood trim. This foam is nearly half an inch thick.
Is every doorway strong enough for a larger person?
Standard construction methods have 2 laminated 2" x 4" that the 4 ½" door jam is nailed to. This means you have just under 4 square inches of wood on both sides of your door. This is more than adequate, even for the largest man. (That is, the largest man that can do 1 chin up - tested at 340lbs)
Do I need to put any screws or nails into my door frame for the UD6?
No, the cantilever action holds you securely in place.
What is the weight rating of the UD6?
The UD6 has been tested for up to 330 lbs.
Once I have my bar set up how long does it take to put into place?
About 3 seconds.
Can I buy this bar in stores?
No. We completely manufacture our pull up bars in our facilities and ship directly to our customers. With no middle man, we can sell the bars at a lower cost.

Is the hardware include?
Yes all necessary hardware is included to mount to your ceiling.
How far apart are the mounting brackets?
The bars have brackets that are spaced 32" apart center to center. Standard homes are 16" on center so the wall or ceiling would have 16" then 32" then 48", etc. You attach directly or through your sheetrock the 1 ½" wide bracket at the 2 ceiling joists that are 32" apart center to center.
